Over 75 lakh devotees are likely to attend the festival over 10 days. Marking the beginning of the festival, which starts on February 22, 2016, deities from all the four Shiva shrines around the mahamaham tank would be dipped in the tank. Devotees from all over the world are expected to attend the festival.
